Course Overview

Understanding the Maxillary Sinuses – Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology and Surgical Considerations is designed to provide clinicians with a comprehensive understanding of the maxillary sinus and its relevance to implant dentistry.

This webinar will explore the key anatomical and physiological features of the maxillary sinus, common sinus pathology and its potential implications for dental implant treatment. The session will also introduce important surgical considerations when working in close proximity to the sinus, helping delegates develop greater awareness and confidence when approaching implant cases involving the posterior maxilla.

Aim:

To provide delegates with a clear understanding of maxillary sinus anatomy, physiology, pathology and relevant surgical considerations, with particular emphasis on their importance in implant dentistry and treatment planning.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this webinar, delegates should be able to:

  • Understand the relevant anatomy of the maxillary sinus and its relationship with the posterior maxilla.
  • Recognise the key physiological functions of the maxillary sinus.
  • Identify common maxillary sinus pathologies and understand their potential clinical significance.
  • Understand how sinus anatomy and pathology may influence implant treatment planning.
  • Recognise important considerations when planning implant treatment in the posterior maxilla.
  • Appreciate the potential risks and complications associated with procedures involving the maxillary sinus.
  • Understand the importance of appropriate assessment and case selection before implant surgery.
  • Recognise situations where further investigation or referral may be appropriate.
